Integrated Care Board
Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) oversee the majority of hospital and community NHS services within their respective local areas. Their role in commissioning involves determining the necessary services for diverse local populations and ensuring their provision.
ICBs receive assurance from NHS England, which remains responsible for commissioning primary care services like GP and dental services, along with certain specialised hospital services. Collaboration between ICBs and NHS England extends to the co-commissioning of many GP services.
While every GP practice falls under an ICB, these boards also incorporate other healthcare professionals such as nurses. The spectrum of services commissioned by ICBs includes planned hospital care, rehabilitative care, urgent and emergency care (including out-of-hours services), most community health services, as well as mental health and learning disability services.
South Oxhey surgery falls under the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System.
